Dear Wild Finca Community, The beauty of Wild Finca lies in its ever-changing landscape. Time here is a constant reminder that nature is always in flux. Just recently, we shared the bittersweet news about our declining Red-backed Shrikes—a subtle sign of ecological shifts. But then came the surprise: the arrival of Bee-eaters. When one species disappears, another may arrive or return. Some come quietly, whilst others shake the land like an avian earthquake. We try to read the signs along the way as best we can. We have no Little Owls or Magpies at Wild Finca, and we believe this is due to the presence of Goshawks, who prey on them. But then there are moments when even these top predators become the prey. There’s one species in particular we’ve seen signs of—we were fairly sure we’d heard them too—but we’ve never had concrete evidence… until this week. A species that embodies the beauty and brutality of wild nature in its purest form. Tomorrow, we’ll reveal everything in our first-ever Inside Wild Finca session. Join us to hear the full story, see the footage, and explore what this means for our land and its wild inhabitants. 🌿 Tomorrow’s the day! Our very first LIVE Inside Wild Finca, and we’re so looking forward to sharing this next chapter with you. This new monthly gathering is your invitation to pause, reflect, and explore the quiet power of rewilding — not just what’s happening here in Northern Spain, but what may be possible right where you are. It’s not about getting it perfect. It’s about getting curious, showing up, and taking that next step with intention. And we promise — you’ll leave with real, tangible ideas for your own space, and a renewed sense of possibility. 🗓️ Live: Friday 30th (tomorrow!) at 11am UK / 12pm CEST
What is Inside Wild Finca?A monthly, behind-the-scenes look at our evolving journey — now in our seventh year of rewilding this wild little patch we call home. (And yes — while Luke always raises an eyebrow when I (Katie) say “seventh year,” I stand by it! Although we didn't officially move in until Summer 2019, we bought Wild Finca in October 2018 and planted our first trees the very next day. That counts, right? To me, that was our first step in gently imprinting ourselves on this land — with roots, not just boots.) You'll hear: Here’s what others have said about previous experiences with us:
“When the world seems a mess, it’s empowering to be part of a like-minded community and Wild Finca’s online rewilding course gave me a real sense of connection and shared purpose with a lovely group of nature lovers. We came from varied backgrounds in different countries, but were united by our curiosity in and passion for the natural world and explored a wealth of ideas for helping nature recover in our own spaces and neighbourhoods, on all sorts of scales. Really inspiring – I loved it!” — Ben
“I'm just having the most wonderful time on your course. I love the way you do it. I find it really unpretentious, super accessible. I've been an absolute nature nerd for years, but this course has reminded me to stop, look closer, and listen. Even my husband, who started reading my nature books, is on board now! ” — Rachel

Cherry finally gave birth, storms may be messing with our ducklings, and the Nightjars are still singing. Plus: a family-friendly quest to connect with nature, wherever you are. Dear Reader,We hope you’re all doing well! We’ve just come through the recent European heatwave and are very grateful for the return of cool breezes and rain here in Asturias. After a sweaty week of 30+ degrees, both the land (and us) are finally breathing again. Thankfully, wild swimming has kept us sane, and Katie...
I looked out the window to see Albus with his hands in the cement mixer... Dear @ReaderWe hope your week’s been wild - in the best possible way - and that you haven’t melted entirely. It’s scorching here, and most of the Wild Finca crew have kept up the daily wild swims. We’ve needed to. The other day, Luke went to a school meeting and - completely out of the blue - our boys were held up as the example of what summer should look like: climbing trees, running free, independent, wild. Idyllic,...
Plus a 3-day nature connection adventure is coming soon - want in? Dear Reader, We hope you’ve had a wild week! Our boys broke up for the summer holidays on Friday, and we headed straight to the river to celebrate. Since then, we’ve managed a wild swim every single day - Saturday was the sea, Sunday and Monday brought us to different river spots. It got us thinking: why not make it a challenge? So, we’ve decided to try and swim every full day we’re home this summer holiday. We’ll keep you...
